I’m not convinced that bullet points listing what an MVP is will help. A much simpler way is to look at the actual “purpose” of an MVP:
Are we significantly better in solving a problem to get enough early adopters to switch from whatever they are doing/using to solve their problem to use our MVP instead.
So yes, it must already be good enough (i.e. minimum) to be a viable alternative to trigger a behavioural change. When successful, these early adopters will help you smooth the rough edges off as well as prioritise features to eventually remove the minimum part form your product.
The early adopters must be your fans, your ambassadors towards — what Seth Godin calls — your MVA, your Minimal Viable Audience.
